This is my first time but certainly not my last time making this Southern Style Sausage Cream Cheese Rotel Dip! That’s a mouthful, right? I know but hey, at least it gives you all the ingredients for this recipe in one whop!
What do I mean? I mean that this dip right here is made with only 3-ingredients:
- Cream Cheese
I know you are reading this in disbelief right now. It’s okay because I wasn’t ready for it either!
3-ingredients could possibly have much flavor, right? Wrong!
It’s full of so much flavor, you couldn’t even imagine!
L-O-V-E…those are the only words I could manage after the first scoop.
When I say I was shook, I really was…
Ingredients You Will Need
I quadrupled the ingredients in this recipe because my family likes to eat dips as a main course rather than an appetizer. We also like to have leftovers for at least a day or two.
I used Tennessee Pride Country Sausage. Two of the 2lb rolls of mild sausage and One of the 1lb rolls of hot sausage. This added just the right amount of spiciness but it wasn’t so spicy that you could hardly eat it. Unless you have a baby tongue like me, it may hardly taste spicy.
As for the Rotel, I use the original since I am already using hot sausage. I didn’t want to set anyone’s tongue on fire, especially my own! If you like a little extra heat you may want to use mild but if you like a lot more heat you should use the hot.
Warning: I have never used the hot Rotel on its own so I do not know how hot it really is. Eat at your own risk!
I just thought I should mention that because I ain’t tryna pay nobody’s hospital bills. No, thank you.
If you’re tryna save some money when making this you can always use the cheaper version. Where I live we have the Great Value Brand and the diced tomatoes with green chilies are what I use. These are the exact same ingredients that are in the brand Rotel. In my opinion, the cheaper version tastes exactly the same.
Philadelphia Cream Cheese is the only brand of cream cheese I use. Again, if you’re on a budget you can use a cheaper brand of cream cheese. In my own experience, the cheap cream cheese doesn’t have the same smooth taste. It could just be my taste buds but my family prefers Philadelphia’s brand.
Last but not least, you need some chips to scoop the dip. This was our first time trying this dip, we normally just fix Rotel Dip. We weren’t sure which chips would go best with this so we used three different kinds:
- Nacho Cheese Doritos
- Tostitos Scoops
- Fritos Scoops
Southern Style Sausage Cream Cheese Rotel Dip
