You may be a dog lover, cat lover, even a pig lover. The point of it all is that you love your pets and you want to make sure they are taken care of. You also want to make sure they are safe at all times. Right? I know. That’s why I am here to tell you that your pet needs a license.
I know what you may be thinking. What…a license?! Before you call me crazy, hear me out. It’s not a driver license. It’s an ID license. Now, I am not telling you to give your dog or cat the keys to your car and let him drive. That would just be silly right?
The Pet DMV
Anyways, there is this website known as the Pet DMV. Most of us know what DMV stands for but for those of you who don’t, DMV stands for Department of Motor Vehicles. This is where we go to get our driver’s license and ID’s. Well, they have one for pets. Now, this website obviously has absolutely nothing to do with motor vehicles and everything to do with pets and identification.
Putting it all in a nutshell, you’re pet needs some form of identification. Many of you likely have collars with tags on them but do these tags have your name, your pet’s name, your phone number, address and other important information? Probably not. That’s okay because not everyone is familiar with the Pet DMV. But when you know better you do better and that’s my only aim here, to help you do better for the sake of your pets.
Why Your Pet Needs An Identity
I am sure many of you can agree when I say pets are so much more than that. They are family members and you care for them the way you would your child. Sometimes, pets can go for a stroll without consent and it isn’t until later that their absence is noticed. By this time, they could be halfway across town or they may be right around the corner from home. Your pet may not always know how to get back home, especially if he isn’t used to being out on his own.
I love and adore pets and it breaks my heart whenever I hear of one that’s lost his way and can’t get back home. Many of these same animals have no form of identification on them, making it harder for the person who finds them to return them to their families. This is why anyone who has a pet should purchase a Pet ID License from the Pet DMV. I promise you will not regret your decision. Even if you find yourself never actually needing your Pet ID, you should be relieved to know you have it just in case. You never know what the next day may bring. Prepare yourself now.
Lost in a Natural Disaster
If you can’t think of one reason why your pet would need an ID license, think natural disaster. As sad as it is, so many places have been plagued with natural disasters and people aren’t the only ones getting misplaced after tornadoes, hurricanes, and other disasters. Pets are getting lost, too. If you were ever to suffer a natural disaster and the only thing you had left material-wise, is your phone, someone could still find your pet and call you. This will only be possible if your pet has some form of identification with that information attached.
Make sure your pet is safe at all times and give them an identity. It truly is better safe than sorry. You are doing a great thing for your pets and giving yourself a peace of mind if you make this small purchase that could last a lifetime.
